What’s Special ?

Why has Olivivo selected Periana Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil:

1. Smaller producer focused on quality not quantity with whom we are delighted to have a close working relationship.

2. Picked early in the season to focus on quality and taste. The olives are processed into oil within hours of harvesting ensuring maximum freshness. The acidity value is currently 0,20 % ( a superior quality oil should have < 0,3 %).

3. The olives are hand harvested from olive groves surrounding Periana which are at 500m above sea level and close to the Mediterranean sea. The combination of high altitude and proximity to the sea create a special climate which results in a superior extra virgin olive oil. (Olive types are Verdial de Velez, Picual and Hojiblanca)

4. Nothing goes to waste in the production of our local Extra Virgin Olive Oil.  The olive stones are used to produce heating pellets. The leaves are used for animal feed.  

5. The olive mill S.C.A. Olivarera San Isidro is a cooperative of the local olive farmers. They put their heart and soul into the cultivation and production of olive oil and are rightly very proud of their high quality  products.

At Olivivo we try to be as environmentally friendly as possible and have chosen packing materials, tape and labels with this goal in mind.
